Malvin spent 10 years scouring Tuscany and Umbria before settling on this property. A beautiful historic house, in a vibrant, non – touristy area, centred within his favorite haunts. We think it’s where to base yourself in Tuscany.
We are about 40 minutes from the historic city centre of Siena Province, Sienna. Our local town is TORRITA DI SIENA – Little Tower of Siena.TORRITA DI SIENA has close access to main North South routes – Florence is one hour North (without traffic delays) and Rome is 2 hours South (ditto) We’ve been an important stop in Tuscany for North-South Milan-Rome travellers for centuries. The area is vibrant, non touristy, bustling with real Italians living real lives, eating really great food at (compared to touristy parts of Tuscany) great prices. We overlook DA VINCI’S VALLEY – the VAL DI CHIANA on one side and on the other side the COLLE SENESE –Sienese hills that lead to the CRETE SENESE and VAL D’ORCIA – starting 20 minutes from the house. We are surrounded by great visits – if you ‘re only here for a couple of nights you’re going to have a hard time choosing what to do –and you’d be wise to plan in some R&R poolside too Tuscan Hill Towns all around us. We see seven from the house. There’s a page about hill towns coming up…. PERUGIA is also one hour away, you can get deep into UMBRIA with a 45 /+ minute drive. you can get deep into CHIANTI in an hour (it begins at 20 mins away) or at SAN GIMIGNANO, or ANGHIARI. You could get to VOLTERRA in an hour and a half. PISA & LUCCA are just over 2 hours. ORVIETO one hour. ASSISI an hour and a quarter.
